Xiaomi launches its first Made in India smartphone Redmi 2 Prime at ₹6999: 4G, Dual SIM, 4.7-inch screen. Xiaomi today launched its first 'Made in India' smartphone called the Redmi 2 Prime, an updated version of the earlier Redmi 2, at an event held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Xiaomi has partnered Foxconn, which has set up a manufacturing facility in Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. The smartphone will be available across Mi.com/in, Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal in an open sale.

The Redmi 2 Prime sports a 4.7-inch HD display (1280×720 pixels), and it is powered by a Snapdragon 410 64-bit 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor and 2,200mAh battery. The Redmi 2 Prime boasts 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card slot. On the software front, the Redmi 2 Prime runs on MIUI 6 based on Android KitKat.

Xiaomi's Redmi 2 Prime features an 8-megapixel camera at the back with LED flash, and a 2-megapixel selfie camera up front. Connectivity options include Dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
